The ‘mini’ JIFF – May 2018

The ‘mini’ JIFF – Johannesburg Italian Film Festival was held in May 2018 as a teaser to the main event in November. It was ‘mini’ in size but not quality!

We screened one film every Sunday in May at 1pm. Tickets were R30.

6th of May “Bianca come il latte rossa come il sangue”

A 16-year-old boy falls for a girl with leukemia and will do everything possible to save her and make her fall in love with him.


13th of May “Pazze di me”

Andrea is tired of losing girlfriends after they meet his family, so he pretends to be an orphan when he meets Giulia.


20th of May “Un ragazzo d’oro”

A young copywriter moves to Rome in the wake of his screenwriter father’s death, where he meets a publisher who wants to release his dad’s autobiography.

27th of May “Hotel Meina”

During World War 2, Cora tries to save a group of Jews from the Hotel Meina, but her escape plan is thwarted by a telegram.


@ the Killarney Cinema

In addition, we celebrated two of the most important Italian actors/directors, Vittorio Gassman and Luciano Salce, with the screening of two films at Killarney Cinema on the 19th of May. The two screenings were free:
